Tutorial/MOTD: Black & Gold

Lately, I have been a lot of requests for black and gold eye shadow looks.  With all the Holiday parties coming this weekend along with New Years right around the corner I thought it would be the right time to make a tutorial.

[side note]

I am so into making YouTube tutorials now because of my new video camera and set up with my new lighting.  My goal is to make 1 video a week including reviews and how to segments.  My new Panasonic Lumix camera has been a great addition to my JVC video cam.  When I love something I want to keep playing with it hopefully it doesn't get old. lol

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

NYX White Eye Shadow Primer

MAC Eye Shadows - Ricepaper, Soft Brown, Espresso and Carbon

L'Oreal Infalliable 24hour Eye Shadow - Gold Imperial

Faux Lashes Alexia www.fauxlash.com

Sonia Kasuk Pointed Eye Liner Brush

Revlon Photoready BB Cream Medium (will do a review)

Benefit High Beam Highlighter (will do a review)

Smashbox Gingersnap Blush Rush

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder (will do a review)

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Trollop/Ophelia

Some tips for this look:

-Try not to blend the black into the gold this will turn the black green.

-If you do not have the colors that I used then use colors that are similar but with a MATTE finish.  If you use something with shimmer or frost it will be too much and you won't get the definition.

-Remember to get the Scotch Tape tacky (first run it on the back of your hand) before you apply it to your eye area.  If you don't do this before, when you take it off it will be painful.  I've done this and it's not a good thing!

-Have a clean extra blending brush handy to use to blend the darker shades so the colors don't look muddy.

I'm already thinking of my next video! If you guys have any requests please let me know ;)

MOTD: Golden/Pink Eye with Masquerade Cosmetics

Recently, I found Masquerade Cosmetics on Instagram and was instanly drawn to their bright colored shadows, I knew I had to get my hands on them.  From their pictures the eye shadows were so richly pigmented very similar to Makeup Forever.  I couldn't wait to try some of their products.  Masquerade Cosmetics is an Australian based company but they do ship Internationally.

The colors I used to create this look are the following :

Masquerade Shimmer Powder #67

Warm golden shimmer placed on the lid

Masquerade Eye Shadow #87

Pretty golden pink shade blended in the crease

I've been looking for a color like this forever.  It's hard to find a shade like this that's not too gold this shadow has just the right amount of pink and gold.  Looks fab with medium to tan skintones.

Masquerade Shimmer Powder #96

Bright magenta pink with touches of silver sparkle added to the outer corners of the eyes. I adore this color especially when you mix it with the gold shimmer powder, looks lovely!

Masquerade Eye Shadow #495

Muted purple grey to add depth in the outer corner crease.  I can't wait to pair this with a smokey eye!

Lashes are the SASHA Lash from FAUXLASH.COM.  Check out my post about these lashes

Can't wait to create more looks with Masquerade Cosmetics!

Review / MOTD: Naked2 Palette - Cool Toned Shadows

I received my Urban Decay Naked2 Palette in the mail today, I am very impressed on the fast turnaround! I ordered my palette last Thursday, the day it was first launched.  I was the one of the fortunate people who were able to snag one of the 5000 palettes that were available at urbandecay.com.  Being a makeup artist I have tons of makeup, did I need more neutral/brown/nude shades? No! But I just had to get my hands on one of the most successful palettes out there.  It took me forever to get the original Naked, but I saw how convenient it was especially for on location work and when I travel.  I literally didn't need to bring anything else with me.

On to Naked2.... I have to say these colors are different, I feel they are more cooler toned  than the original which is more golds/and bronzes.  I really like the colors, but I wish there were more matte shades added to this collection.  The only 2 colors that are matte are Tease (taupe grey) and Foxy (yellowish beige).  A nice blending crease color would be best for this palette.  The rest of the shades have the signature Urban Decay frost/shimmer, which is what draws me to the brand.  My favorite colors are: Verve, Pistol, and Suspect.

With this being said I had to focus on these colors for my Makeup Of The Day.
