Tutorial: 2013 Pantone Color of the Year EMERALD

PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald

, a lively, radiant, lush green, is the Color of the Year for 2013. (according to their website). You will see this color everywhere from fashion to home textiles.

What is Pantone you ask? "Pantone is a standardized color matching system, utilizing the Pantone numbering system for identifying colors. By standardizing the colors, different manufacturers in different locations can all reference a Pantone numbered color, making sure colors match without direct contact with one another." (

http://www.colorguides.net/pantone.html

). Every year the company comes out with selected colors to feature for the season and one for the year. To learn more about Pantone please click

I really love how rich this color is, it's a great color to work in your makeup routine.  If you are not brave enough to try the Emerald all over your eye try applying it as an eyeliner for a pop of color.  The possibilities are endless.

I will be focusing on all the Spring 2013 Fashion Color Report Colors below for future videos and MOTD'S. I love all the colors and can't wait to create some amazing looks for all of you.

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

Maybelline Fit Foundation 310 (I am usually a MAC Nc40/NC42

Revlon photo ready bb cream medium

Tutorial/MOTD: Black & Gold

Lately, I have been a lot of requests for black and gold eye shadow looks.  With all the Holiday parties coming this weekend along with New Years right around the corner I thought it would be the right time to make a tutorial.

[side note]

I am so into making YouTube tutorials now because of my new video camera and set up with my new lighting.  My goal is to make 1 video a week including reviews and how to segments.  My new Panasonic Lumix camera has been a great addition to my JVC video cam.  When I love something I want to keep playing with it hopefully it doesn't get old. lol

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

NYX White Eye Shadow Primer

MAC Eye Shadows - Ricepaper, Soft Brown, Espresso and Carbon

L'Oreal Infalliable 24hour Eye Shadow - Gold Imperial

Faux Lashes Alexia www.fauxlash.com

Sonia Kasuk Pointed Eye Liner Brush

Revlon Photoready BB Cream Medium (will do a review)

Benefit High Beam Highlighter (will do a review)

Smashbox Gingersnap Blush Rush

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder (will do a review)

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Trollop/Ophelia

Some tips for this look:

-Try not to blend the black into the gold this will turn the black green.

-If you do not have the colors that I used then use colors that are similar but with a MATTE finish.  If you use something with shimmer or frost it will be too much and you won't get the definition.

-Remember to get the Scotch Tape tacky (first run it on the back of your hand) before you apply it to your eye area.  If you don't do this before, when you take it off it will be painful.  I've done this and it's not a good thing!

-Have a clean extra blending brush handy to use to blend the darker shades so the colors don't look muddy.

I'm already thinking of my next video! If you guys have any requests please let me know ;)

This tutorial is way overdue, I have been slacking tremendously but at least I have a new video camera to showcase my work.  I wanted to focus on products that you would be able to find at your nearest drugstore (minus the Smashbox blush that I used).  The main products for this smokey eye look are from L’Oreal .  You probably have seen the ads and the commercials for these little pressed/loose (are they pressed or loose? Who knows?) eye shadow pots that come in a variety of colors.  I have about 12 of the colors and I love them to pieces.  The Midnight Blue is to die for and so is the Perpetual Purple.  I will post the MOTD’S I created using these two colors.  The color payoffs of each of the colors are so bold and the longevity of the wear is wonderful.

Back to the brown smokey eye… I received an email from one of my instagram/facebook follower, Brian.  The picture was from Pretty Little Liars and it was a deep intense brown glittery smokey eye.  I wanted to create more of a cat eye smokey eye to change it up a little and I did this with the help of scotch tape.  Here’s a little tip before you apply the scotch tape right on your face.  Make sure you get the tape tacky by placing it on the back of your hand and rubbing the top of it a little.  This will prevent the tape from hurting your poor delicate eye area when you take it off later.  Trust me I’ve done it and it doesn’t feel too great. OUCH!

Hope you enjoy the new quality of the video!!! Can’t wait to make more… if I don’t get into the lazy spell again.

Tutorial/MOTD: Shades Of Purple

I am so late to post this, a little bit less than a month. ACK! I totally forgot that I had this waiting for me to publish.

Since I was a kid I was always drawn to the color purple. I love wearing purple for eye shadow and eyeliner, and if the color is right on my lips as well. Purple is a wonderful complimentary color to green/hazel eyes.

  • Eyeshadow - Coastal Scents 88 Color Palette

Side note: When I was filming the video I used the light pink color. When I was taking the pictures I realized it was too light so I packed on the color next to it which is a mauve/purple/pink color. It is up to you which color you prefer.

  • Eye Liner - Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eye Liner Pen Black
  • Glitter Eye Liner - NYX Liquid Crystal Liner Crystal Hip
  • Mascara - MAC Studio Fix Boldblack Lash
  • Lashes - Daiso
  • Lips - L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm Pink Satin and L'Oreal Colour Juice Pina Colada

Tutorial: Naked 1 Palette Smokey Eye With A POP of Color

Spring is just around the corner, but of course here in Seattle it doesn't stop the rain. I've been seeing a lot of great new trends that I can't wait to share with all of you. Many new makeup users are always scared to wear color on their lips or on their eyes. It's always best to pair a bright color with something that you are comfortable wearing. For some people it could be a neutral eye with a pop of a colored eyeliner. Or perhaps using a neutral lip liner with a bright fuchsia lipstick. I love pairing a dark eye with some bright colors as this brings more attention to the eye area. There are many ways to incorporate some bright toned hues but the easiest and simplest way is the drop shadow effect (smudged colors on the lower lashline).

Take a peak at my newest video. :) I wish I had someone to edit all my videos... any takers? lol
