MOTD: Dark and Mysterious

MOTD NYX

While I was organizing my blog the other day I realized that I havn't been posting any MOTD's recently.  Sorry for all you that anticipate to see details of my daily MOTD's on Instagram.

This look was a favorite especially for the dark dreary fall days- especially popular for a simple Halloween look to go with any costume. I wanted to use some products that were inexpensive and easy to find.  NYX Cosmetics is my go-to brand for inexpensive but good quality cosmetics.  I am a big fan of their lip products especially the Matte Lip Creams and Matte Lipsticks, oh and the Lip Butters! I guess I'm a fan of all their stuff.

Here are the details on the products I used to create this look:                                                   (I forgot what I used for the blush, so sorry on my part!)

nyxcosmetics adorable eye shadow palette ( Shimmery nude and Matte white - highlight, Matte brown - overall crease extended out, Matte dark brown - crease, shimmery brown- lid.

-NYX Cosmetics Adorable Eye Shadow Palette ( Shimmery nude and Matte white - highlight, Matte brown - overall crease extended out, Matte dark brown - crease, shimmery brown- lid.

Tutorial: Lorac Mega Pro Palette Soft Smokey Eyes

Lorac Mega Pro Palette Soft Smokey

As soon as I saw a post on Instagram about the LORAC Mega PRO Palette I knew I had to get my hands on this super palette along with a lot of other people.

I haven't really tried LORAC products and I always wanted to try the LORAC PRO Palettes 1 and 2 but never had a chance.  I see a lot of makeup artists stock their kits with the palettes.  I was about to purchase the originals until I found out this motherload was hitting for the fall season.  It actually launched for their 2014 Royal Holiday Collection but looks like it won't even reach the holidays.

Because I am a typical makeup addict I stalked the LORAC website, Facebook and Instagram feeds to make sure I didn't miss out. Marked the date Tuesday Oct. 7th in  my Filofax (thank goodness for my planner to remind me of all these makeup launches).  Woke up at 6am PST to purchase the palette.  Told my husband I forgot to send out a work email .. lied but whatever I needed the palette.   So happy I did and got my hands on it.

The shadows overall are super pigmented! I felt every time I dipped my brush into the shadow I needed to tap my brush.  Also I learned very early that you only need to tap your brush into shadow very lightly and it will pick up a lot of shadow.  I wish there was a variety of colors though.  There are a lot of light and mid tone shades all around the same color (check out the first half of the palette).  With that said it's a good palette to create neutral natural looks and classic colored smokey eyes.  If you are into color/brighter colors you may want to pass this up.

Tutorial: Colour Pop Eyes For Fall

Hair and Makeup Addiction Brushes

I have been getting a lot of questions about the brushes that I use for some of my looks- here it is! This complete set is from Hair and Makeup Addiction- the brushes are synthetic hair with bamboo wood handles plus Vegan friendly!   Visit the site for other sets if you feel you don't need a complete one like this- there's sets for eyes, face and individual.  So many uses for each one that you really don't need any other brushes.  I know, at times,  a big set like this can get confusing or overwhelming but don't you worry! You will find the name of the brush labeled on the handle- the names relate to the the purpose of the brush.  Of course, you don't have to use it for the particular purpose/feature but hey at least you won't be left in a dark.  I will do a more in-depth review of these brushes and how I like to use them.

MOTD: Bridal Makeup Jannett

Bridal Makeup- villabeautifful

I love doing bridal makeup and being part of a bride's special day.  Jannet contacted me 2 weeks ago regarding makeup for her wedding (she actually planned her wedding in 2 weeks!)  I always tell my brides to send me pictures of makeup styles that interest them. This really helps me get inspired and see what type of direction they would like to take.  Jannet was a super easy bride and I love the end results of her makeup.  Smokey eye, nude/pink lip perfect makeup for an evening wedding.

Here are the products that I used to create this look

  • Embroylisse Lait-Crème Concentre moisturizer
  • Whip Hand Cosmetics Set The Stage Makeup Primer
  • Belletto Studio Airbrush Makeup Y3 Latte and Y4 Sweet Honey
  • MAC Cosmetics NW25 under eye NC30 redness
  • Smashbox Photo Finish 24 Hour Shadow Primer (THE BEST!)

  • MAC White Frost / Nylon Shadow Highlight inner corner
  • MAC Chromaline Black Black for top liner
  • Urban Decay Cosmetics 47/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Zero
  • MAC Peachykeen Blush
  • MAC Angel Lipstick with Spice Lip Pencil

I wish I would have done these before and after makeups more! I totally regret not doing them during my whole makeup career.  Oh well here's to a new start!

MOTD: Smokey Gold

Smokey Gold

I wanted to share this smokey gold eye look with all of you since I haven't posted a MOTD lately.  This photo was taken with my husband's Iphone, can you believe that? I am always in awe of the awesome pictures I get with a camera phone.  With the new Iphone 6 coming out- I can't wait to see how good my close-up pictures will turn out.

I always have a love/hate relationship with my eyebrows.  You can tell when I have a good eyebrow day or a bad ( I usually don't post a MOTD if I feel my brows are not up to par).  I was having a very good eyebrow day in this picture.  I will definitely need to update my brow routine video! In case you are wondering what I use for my brows I define my brows with the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Ebony with a thin slanted angle brush.  Enough with my brows lets get down with the details of the look.

Products used:

  • Motives Cosmetics Mavens Element Eye Shadow Palette
  •  Colour Pop Cosmetics  Super Shock Shadow Get Lucky on the lid
  • House of Lashes Noir Fairy Lashes
  • Violet Voss  glitter in Goldie.
