Filofax - my new creative obsession to organization

I have always been a lover of arts and crafts since I was a little kid.  My school projects always consisted of glitter, scented markers, stickers, and whatever I could glue on poster board.   Many of you don't know that my hobby is making things - cards, photo books, home decor items, etc.  I can spend hours at Michael's or at JoAnn's, browsing through all the aisles of crafty things.  With makeup taking a majority of my time I usually don't have time or space (half of our 800sq ft. condo is already filled with makeup and a few storage bins of scrapbook paper and crafty "stuff) until I found this picture (the picture is from her blog but I first saw it on Instagram) from my new friend Candi aka FILOEYECANDI 's Filofax.  It literally was love at first sight - creativity, cute crafty things, paper, washi tape .. I was in heaven.  This was my calling ... it was time to get organized and at the same time use my creative skills that I always have deep down inside me.

What is a Filofax? Well it's a personal organization planner/binder from a company in the UK. Very similar to a At-A-Glance planner or a Daytimer that most of us in the US are accustomed to. You can customize it your lifestyle with a monthly calendar or if you prefer a weekly calendar, add a shopping or check list, email address of your friends from high school.. practically everything and anything you can include.  But the fun part is decorating your pages to your liking - add washi tape as a border, stamp days of the week on your calendars, support your lists with cute little paperclips or use scrapbook paper to create inspirational add one note cards.  Possibilities are endless!

I knew I had to stock up on supplies and it was perfect timing because it was Memorial Day.  The first thing I ordered was the Filofax Domino A5 Organiser in Hot Pink! I first saw it on Candi's IG and I knew I had to have one in this color. The title picture above is the organiser open and below is it closed. The bright pink reminds me of MAC Candy Yum Yum Lipstick.

Next I went all over the internet looking for Filofax goodies to grace my pages.  Instagram is very good source to get inspiration for your pages but also to see where everyone in the Filofax community gets there cute little supplies.  I kept seeing washi tape from the dollar section at Target hauls.... would I be able to get my hands on this? I guess we will see.

I'll post my hauls in the next couple of days so you can follow me on my journey.  Every week I will post my layout of my weekly calendar and share what's in my Filofax! Click here to see the creative side of VILLABEAUTIFFUL including planning pages and everything creative!

Review/Swatches Colour Pop Cosmetics Super Shock Shadow

Colour Pop Cosmetics

is seriously bad ass, seriously.  If you LOVE  glittery, creamy and pigmented shadows I just found your new soul mate!  I usually find all my beauty finds on Instagram. C'mon don't tell me you don't sit in bed browsing through your feed because you can't sleep.  For some reason I feel like it's happening to me more and more every night.  I am such a sucker for glittery/mettalic things that when I first saw these white pots I just had to have them (and I know after this post you will too!).

The shadow is just not your average powder shadow it's like a hybrid of a cream and powder put together in one for a super shimmery pot of goodness. The pigmentation and color pay-off is top notch!  The design imprinted on the shadow goes away but the shimmer/glitter/metallic  does not! Oh and did I mention they are only $5!!! YES! I went crazy and bought a few and then bought a few more.  I'm typing away and I feel like I need to finish my collection.

If you are like me - loves to shop online but hate to wait for the package to get in your hands don't you worry! The shipping was super quick and get this ... free shipping over $30 ... let me break it down that's 6 little Colour Pop Super Shock Shadows!! Let me give you a tour of my Colour Pop Cosmetics collection.

When you open your box you will find your shadows packed away nicely.

Don't you just love the box?

I really felt special when I saw the handwritten note from the Colour Pop team. Such a great touch to acknowledge their customers. Bonus points to them!

Here are swatches from my first purchase mostly neutral tones, my 2nd purchase has the brighter colors. I just want to collect all of them, I know you will want to too! Take a look at my swatches you won't be disappointed.  The descriptions of the shades are taken directly from the

Colour Pop

website.  All pictures are taken outdoors with natural light.

A minty sea green that is drop dead gorg!

Colour Pop Super Shock Shadow SUGAR -  metallic silvery blue with small shimmering flecks of silver and

tons of champagne and gold glitter.

A beautiful magical shade that will make you feel like a mermaid.

I wanted to show you the before and and after once the pretty top layer goes away.  You are still left with the shimmery/metallic/glittery goodness.

**APPLICATION TIP! I took their tip and I used my fingers to apply the shadows, it works perfectly! Don't forget to screw the cap tightly when you are not using them so they don't dry out.

Review: Vera Mona Color Switch Duo

I am always on the hunt for new makeup inventions that will make my life as a pro makeup artist and as a makeup addict so much easier. I have been a huge fan of

Vera Mona Color Switch Duo

since I saw it on IG.  It literally is one of the best makeup inventions ever that I have come across.  If you only have a few makeup brushes and need to quickly clean your brush to move on to your next color, this product makes it so simple! Keep in mind that it does NOT sanitize your brushes but rubs away the pigment left from your previous shadow to move on to the next one.  This is should only be used for quick color changes if you do not have a spare brush on hand. For instance using a black shadow first and then using a white... if you don't clean the brush you will get a gray color instead of pure white.

Here are the steps:

1. Take your pigmented brush (I find that flat brushes work better MAC #252 or #242 brushes) and swipe it back and forth against the black sponge. The friction of you rubbing the hairs against the black sponge pulls the eye shadow pigment from the brush. Do this for both sides until it looks clear.

 2.  For the middle white sponge all you need to do it soak it with water and press your eye shadow brush to use it for wet makeup applications like pigments.

If you are a makeup addict you really need this product in your life! I've seen some other makeup enthusiast make their own. Try it and see if it works for you.  My husband was even amazed and couldn't stop playing with it. lol
