Tutorial: Bright Eyes with Naked 1 Palette

Naked 1 Bright Eyes

It's been a couple of years since the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette has been released and to this very day it's still my favorite. The rich collection of metallic golds, bronzes and neutral browns make it my go-to palette for everyday wear and for an evening out.  This is also the palette of choice by a lot my brides that I have worked with over the years.

I totally forgot to post this look for the summer time since a bright lip (especially orange) is always on trend for the season.  I didn't want it to go to waste and thought that the neutral eye shadow would be appropriate all year- just change up the lip shade.  The Champagne L.A. Girl Glide Gel Liner with the shadow Sin from the palette really brighten up the eyes.

URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTES IN A Z-PALETTE

In the video I show you a glimpse of my depotted Naked Palettes (1-3) and a limited edition Smashbox Soft Box Palette (wish this was available all the time).  I love having all my "neutral" palettes in one place, easy for me to grab and create looks with all of the shades and keep my kit nicely condensed.  The picture of all three palettes that I printed from my computer and taped to the back of the palette is from THE FABZILLA.  Her blog is amazing and very detailed with swatches.  If you would love to see how I did this please leave a comment below!

Here's a tutorial to make your eyes brighter using the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette. The pace of the tutorial is pretty fast so I could fit all the details for you in the video. For more info including pictures of my depotted Naked Palettes in the Z-palette visit my blog.

Here is the product breakdown of the products that I used to create the look

MOTD: MAC Violetta Lipstick

MAC Violetta Amplified Lipstick is a creamy reddish-purple shade with a slight violet iridescent overlay with a glossy sheen.  I find this shade can be worn during the summer for a brighter lip and then during the fall/winter months paired with a deeper lip liner for a vampy look.  This shade use to be a MAC PRO only shade (only available at MAC PRO locations) but now it has been added to the permanent line for everyone to enjoy.

Today's MOTD focus is based on how you can wear this lipstick to create two different looks. This was requested by one of my filofax buddies Jennifer from MY PURPLEY LIFE.  I remember going to her site when I first started with my filofax adventure.  It's full of useful information and inspiration! She recently won Violetta Lipstick from an Instagram giveaway I was hosting with Willow and Washi. It is the perfect lipstick for her! Lets take a look at the two different looks.

Violetta Lipstick with Golden Natural Eyes

This look focuses on the lips making it the focal point of the makeup. If you are normally the type to go light on the eyes or usually wear a lot of makeup this will be a great look for you.  I love pairing bright and dark lip colors with golden or bronze shadows to complement the lipstick.

Here are the products I used to create this look.

  • Beletto Studio Airbrush Foundation F6 Yellow Dune
  • L.A. Girl Cosmetics HD PRO Concealer Beautiful Bronze (contour) and Medium Beige (highlight)
  • Colour Pop Cosmetics Super Shock Shadows Girly (highlight), and Amaze (lid) with MAC Espresso Eye Shadow blended towards the outer corners.
  • L,A. Girl Cosmetics Glide Gel Liner in Metallic Copper for the bottom liner and L.A. Girl Mark My Eyes Liquid Liner for the top.
  • House of Lashes Temptress Lashes
  • MAC Blushbaby Blush
  • MAC Cosmetics Quartz Lip Liner

MAC VIoletta Lipstick Dramatic Eye

Now lets change it up a bit to something more dramatic with a touch of sparkle. Try this look if you are going for more of a bold look for an evening out, party or even a dance.  I kept my face products the same and only changed my eyes along with a brighter liner for the lips.

To create this look take a peek at the products below:

  • Motives Mavens Element Palette - Birch (highlight), Shell (all over lid), Aubergine (first half of lid), Native (soft contour above crease) and Raven (outer corners for depth).
  • L.A. Girl Glide Gel Eye Liner Royal Blue outer half of bottom eye.  Mark My Eyes Liquid Liner for the top.
  • Elegant Lashes #148 Lashes
  • Eye Kandy Cosmetics Marshmallow Glitter (highlight used for the lower bottom of the eye)
  • MAC Cosmetics Magenta Lip Liner

I really enjoyed creating two different looks with one lipstick and will continue to make it a weekly post on my blog.  If there is a particular MAC lipstick (I have tons of MAC Lipsticks) that you would like to see a look for please leave a comment below!

MOTD: L.A. Girl Cosmetics

Colorful makeup with L.A. Girl Cosmetics

I love incorporating brighter colors to my makeup looks especially for summer and I am so happy how this one turned out.  I actually used the L.A. Girl Cosmetic Glide On Gel Liners as an eye shadow.  I basically just scribbled Goldmine all over my lid, let it set and I was good to go.  So easy but the results are long lasting color.   I did have to use a makeup remover (my go-to remover is MAC Cleanse Off Oil) to break down the liner but at least I know that It stays on!

MOTD: Colorful look for summer

motdpinkpurplecolor

Quick MOTD post for you today using L.A. Girl Cosmetics. I am head over heals with the Gel Glide Eyeliner Pencils.  They are soft, creamy, come in a variety of colours but most importantly stays on once set (give it about 15 seconds). I am serious, this liner does not move!  I even used makeup remover to remove the Royal Blue color and it was still on until I washed my face.  If you are looking for an eyeliner that will stay in the water line and will not budge this is for you.  I've tried so many eyeliners but I really have to say this eyeliner is the best! Did I mention the eyeliner is only $5?!?! YAHOOOOO now you can collect all the colors. =)  You can thank me later. P.S. I will have swatches of the liners that I have so you can start your shopping.

Back to the look..

  • Shadows: MAC Swish (lid), Quarry (overall crease), Shadowy Lady (outside corner), Blanc Type (highlight), White Frost (inner tear duct for highlight).  To create the sharp clean edge use masking tape before eye shadow application.
  • Brow: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Ebony
  • Liner: L.A.Girl Gel Glide Eyeliner Very Black (top) and Royal Blue (bottom)
  • Lashes: Elegant Lashes Mystic
  • Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC40
  • Blush: MAC Harmony and Margin Powder Blush
  • Lips: L.A. Girl Semi-Permanent Auto Lip Liner Pink Parfait and L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint Bombshell. **Swatches of these Lip Paints will be up soon!

Have a great day!

Review/Swatches Colour Pop Cosmetics Super Shock Shadow

Colour Pop Cosmetics

is seriously bad ass, seriously.  If you LOVE  glittery, creamy and pigmented shadows I just found your new soul mate!  I usually find all my beauty finds on Instagram. C'mon don't tell me you don't sit in bed browsing through your feed because you can't sleep.  For some reason I feel like it's happening to me more and more every night.  I am such a sucker for glittery/mettalic things that when I first saw these white pots I just had to have them (and I know after this post you will too!).

The shadow is just not your average powder shadow it's like a hybrid of a cream and powder put together in one for a super shimmery pot of goodness. The pigmentation and color pay-off is top notch!  The design imprinted on the shadow goes away but the shimmer/glitter/metallic  does not! Oh and did I mention they are only $5!!! YES! I went crazy and bought a few and then bought a few more.  I'm typing away and I feel like I need to finish my collection.

If you are like me - loves to shop online but hate to wait for the package to get in your hands don't you worry! The shipping was super quick and get this ... free shipping over $30 ... let me break it down that's 6 little Colour Pop Super Shock Shadows!! Let me give you a tour of my Colour Pop Cosmetics collection.

When you open your box you will find your shadows packed away nicely.

Don't you just love the box?

I really felt special when I saw the handwritten note from the Colour Pop team. Such a great touch to acknowledge their customers. Bonus points to them!
