Tutorial: Applying False Eyelashes 101

*my eyelash drawer is out of control!!!*

I've been dying to make a video tutorial on how to apply false eyelashes. I have to say this must be the #1 requested video that everyone asks for. Applying falsies does take a lot of practice and patience but with a steady hand and the right kind of adhesive you will be a PRO in no time. Trust me, it's not easy, but once you get it down it's a piece of cake.

Applying false eyelashes really changes the style of your makeup, you can go from a natural beauty to diva glam just by selecting the perfect pair to compliment your makeup.  There's so many different styles out there that your possibilities are endless.

Falsies can be bought anywhere now a days find them at Target, any drugstore, beauty department store (Ulta and Sephora) and many cosmetic brands do carry their own line (MAC and Makeup Forever).  I buy my lashes online, I find that it's cheaper than the stores.  I do need a lot of them when I do makeup on location for brides so it's always great to find quality eyelashes are reasonably priced.  Two online sites that I recommend are:

This site is great to find lashes that you would normally find at drugstores or beauty supply stores.  Brands they carry are Ardell, Red Cherry, Revlon,  Elise and Japonesque.  The more you buy of 1 style the more you save which is great if you need more than 1 pair.  You can find an assortment of styles from natural to theatrical styles and even individuals.  This is your one stop shop because they also have Duo Eyelash Adhesive.  I usually order the Red Cherry ($1.99) and Ardell Lashes (varies from $2.00 and +) for myself and my clients. This is my favorite site to shop for all sorts of different eyelashes.  With your order I always get an extra pair of free eyelashes, plus you get your package within a couple of days!

You can read all about these lashes from my previous post.

The blog post has pictures of all the lashes that I have purchased from Model21. All my brides love the 63, it is the perfect lash for a natural look.  I like to use these when I am doing a large bridal party or when I am creating my own falsies by layering different lashes together.  Pack of 10 lashes for under $10 but these lashes are synthetic.

The two styles that I have featured in the video are from Red Cherry which I purchased from

Madammadeline.com

.  What I like about this brand is that their false eyelashes are real hair and not synthetic.  The eyelashes are softer and not so plastic looking.

These are the two styles, I did edit the pictures a little bit so you can see the eyelashes better.

Products I used for this look

-Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance

-L’Oreal Infalliable Eye Shadows in Continuous Cocoa, Bronzed Taupe, and Iced Latte

-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil French Fries

-MAC Stud Eye Brow Pencil

-MAC Reflects Gold Glitter

-Ardell Double Up Lashes #205

-NYX Supreme Lip Cream in Pinky Nude

This tutorial is way overdue, I have been slacking tremendously but at least I have a new video camera to showcase my work.  I wanted to focus on products that you would be able to find at your nearest drugstore (minus the Smashbox blush that I used).  The main products for this smokey eye look are from L’Oreal .  You probably have seen the ads and the commercials for these little pressed/loose (are they pressed or loose? Who knows?) eye shadow pots that come in a variety of colors.  I have about 12 of the colors and I love them to pieces.  The Midnight Blue is to die for and so is the Perpetual Purple.  I will post the MOTD’S I created using these two colors.  The color payoffs of each of the colors are so bold and the longevity of the wear is wonderful.

Back to the brown smokey eye… I received an email from one of my instagram/facebook follower, Brian.  The picture was from Pretty Little Liars and it was a deep intense brown glittery smokey eye.  I wanted to create more of a cat eye smokey eye to change it up a little and I did this with the help of scotch tape.  Here’s a little tip before you apply the scotch tape right on your face.  Make sure you get the tape tacky by placing it on the back of your hand and rubbing the top of it a little.  This will prevent the tape from hurting your poor delicate eye area when you take it off later.  Trust me I’ve done it and it doesn’t feel too great. OUCH!

Hope you enjoy the new quality of the video!!! Can’t wait to make more… if I don’t get into the lazy spell again.

Tutorial/MOTD: Shades Of Purple

I am so late to post this, a little bit less than a month. ACK! I totally forgot that I had this waiting for me to publish.

Since I was a kid I was always drawn to the color purple. I love wearing purple for eye shadow and eyeliner, and if the color is right on my lips as well. Purple is a wonderful complimentary color to green/hazel eyes.

  • Eyeshadow - Coastal Scents 88 Color Palette

Side note: When I was filming the video I used the light pink color. When I was taking the pictures I realized it was too light so I packed on the color next to it which is a mauve/purple/pink color. It is up to you which color you prefer.

  • Eye Liner - Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eye Liner Pen Black
  • Glitter Eye Liner - NYX Liquid Crystal Liner Crystal Hip
  • Mascara - MAC Studio Fix Boldblack Lash
  • Lashes - Daiso
  • Lips - L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm Pink Satin and L'Oreal Colour Juice Pina Colada

Tutorial: Soft Aqua/Lime Eye with Viva Glam Nicki!

Since I was a teenager I have been a loyal MAC ADDICT not because of the great selection of products and colors but because this company gives back to others.  In 1994 the MAC Aids Fund was established  to create awareness and educate people on HIV/AIDS around the world.  Every cent of a Viva Glam Lipstick or Lipglass purchased will help people living with affected and by AIDS/HIV.  Every couple of years the company picks a new Viva Glam Spokesperson to represent the company on a whole new campaign to spread awareness with a powerful lipstick color that they choose.  This year MAC chose Ricky Martin (lip conditioner) and Nicki Minaj (flamingo pink lipstick) - two very influential people in the music industry today.

I love the Viva Glam Niki lipstick, it is a gorgeous pink that compliments my skin tone very well.  This is my favorite pink of all time.  I decided to make a tutorial on how to wear this lipstick with brighter eye colors.  I didn't notice until I was finished with the video that Nicki's makeup in the campaign advertisements were identical to the colors that I used except switched.  :)

Enjoy watching!
