MOTD: Gorgeous Gold with a mix of blues and turquoise

MAC Gorgeous Gold, Freshwater, Plumage and Haunting (Limited Edition).

Trying a new layout for the MOTD'S on Instagram.  Thought it would be nice to showcase the colors that I use so you can see what the actual colors looked like and see if you have colors that are similar.

I am sorry that I have not been posting any new material, been busy planning my wedding, vacationing and beau-TIFF-ing  up brides for their special day.  Promise I'll post more on a regular basis.  :)

MAC FIX + and the many uses

Having worked for MAC for 5 years, I always get asked what my favorite MAC product is.  As a consumer and Pro Makeup Artist I would say hands down MAC Fix+ because of it's many uses that many people don't really know about.  Being a makeup artist for roughly over 10 years I have experimented with different products to produce other uses than what it's intentionally intended for.  They kinda just happen unexpectedly, more like accidentally.

Definition of MAC Fix+ taken directly from

maccosmetics.com

"An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up!"

VillabeauTIFFul definition = Vitamin Water infused cocktail for your skin. Basically a spray on moisturizer!

I have compiled a list of some of my favorite ways to use Fix+.  Keep in mind that they might not work on everyone but at least you can try it and see if it works for you.

  • use as a light moisturizer when you have oily to normal skin
  • pair with your cream moisturizer for dry skin
  • spritz on after your makeup to finish it (this is more to melt on the minerals together to set it.  This spray does NOT make your makeup waterproof or sweatproof)
  • for added moisturization on dry areas of your body such as hands, knees and elbows spray on selected area and then follow up with your favorite body lotion.  The fragrance in Fix+ is very light so it will not alter the scent of the body lotion.
  • make an eye cream cocktail for tired eyes and puffiness!  Simply take a little bit of your favorite eye cream to the back of your hand (use the back of your hand as a working palette) and then add 2 drops of Fix+ to the cream, mix the eye cream with Fix+ together and apply cream with your ring finger to the under eye puffiness.  Keep away from direct contact with your eye as it may irritate your eye.  The caffeine and green tea are great ingredients to tone down puffiness.
  • Full coverage foundation to heavy for you especially for the summer time? No problem, just spray a couple spritzes on your foundation brush to dampen it up a little and then apply your foundation.  When the foundation brush picks up the liquid or cream foundation is thins it out by not picking up too much product.  You can also make a foundation cocktail or concealer cocktail (same method as eye cream cocktail listed above) to thin out heavier products. I use this method a lot for my pro kit.
  •  Mix your loose eye shadows or pigments with Fix+ to create a paste/cream texture to apply to your lids.  I find this works extremely well for full on color payoff and it's not as messy to work with.  I actually prefer using all loose products this way, it totally changes the "oomph" of the product.
  • I also have a small bottle of Fix+ with me in my purse when I feel I need a little pick me up for my makeup.  You know the feeling when you had a long day at work and your makeup looks drab? A few spritzes will refresh your makeup looking fresh and alive again.
  • Is your scalp feeling dry? Spray Fix+ on your roots and your scalp for a instant hair tonic moisturizer.
  • Added too much blush? Don't worry just lightly mist your cheeks and take a clean brush (not the brush you applied the blush with) and blend away.  This will create a softer, wash of color cheek.

I hope you learned some great tips, I would love to hear some of yours! Please share! :)

MOTD: Neon Trend With Sleek Acid Palette

Every time I see neon colors especially the electrifying yellow I always think of the 80's.  I am a 80's child, I was always drawn to the sparkle of Gem And The Holograms and the wild bright outfits of Punky Brewster (what happened to that girl? hmm). Summer 2012 you can see neon everywhere from fashion, to home decor and of course beauty.

If you like BRIGHT, BOLD colors the Sleek Acid Palette is for you.   I mentioned in my other posts with looks from this palette that you cannot get this palette in the US through

www.sleekmakeup.com

you will need to find a reputable seller on Ebay.  I have bought all my Sleek Makeup through there and they are legit and at times get free shipping which is a major plus!

I was inspired to use these colors from a shirt that I found at H&M.

I added MAC Waveline Fluidline for the pop of blue/purple for the lower liner.  I thought it would add a different more colorful approach then using ordinary black.

Products I used for this look

-Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance

-L’Oreal Infalliable Eye Shadows in Continuous Cocoa, Bronzed Taupe, and Iced Latte

-NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil French Fries

-MAC Stud Eye Brow Pencil

-MAC Reflects Gold Glitter

-Ardell Double Up Lashes #205

-NYX Supreme Lip Cream in Pinky Nude

This tutorial is way overdue, I have been slacking tremendously but at least I have a new video camera to showcase my work.  I wanted to focus on products that you would be able to find at your nearest drugstore (minus the Smashbox blush that I used).  The main products for this smokey eye look are from L’Oreal .  You probably have seen the ads and the commercials for these little pressed/loose (are they pressed or loose? Who knows?) eye shadow pots that come in a variety of colors.  I have about 12 of the colors and I love them to pieces.  The Midnight Blue is to die for and so is the Perpetual Purple.  I will post the MOTD’S I created using these two colors.  The color payoffs of each of the colors are so bold and the longevity of the wear is wonderful.

Back to the brown smokey eye… I received an email from one of my instagram/facebook follower, Brian.  The picture was from Pretty Little Liars and it was a deep intense brown glittery smokey eye.  I wanted to create more of a cat eye smokey eye to change it up a little and I did this with the help of scotch tape.  Here’s a little tip before you apply the scotch tape right on your face.  Make sure you get the tape tacky by placing it on the back of your hand and rubbing the top of it a little.  This will prevent the tape from hurting your poor delicate eye area when you take it off later.  Trust me I’ve done it and it doesn’t feel too great. OUCH!

Hope you enjoy the new quality of the video!!! Can’t wait to make more… if I don’t get into the lazy spell again.

MOTD: Pink, Tan, White Prom Look 1

I've been getting a lot of requests for Prom looks since a lot of teenagers are anticipating their proms in a couple of weeks.  I remember my Prom so many years ago and this look would perfectly match the dress that I wore that night.  It was a pink 2 piece with silver rhinestones. Man, I miss those days getting all glammed up and going out with friends to enjoy the night.  My date was a childhood friend whom I've known since 3rd grade.  It was such a fun night!

Anyways back to the makeup.

For the look I used all MAC makeup since you can find counters and stores all over the place.

-You may use any highlighter shade you prefer, for this look I used Brule.

- MAC Passionate Eye Shadow (Crease). Best when applied with a blending brush such as the MAC #224 for a soft diffused crease.

-MAC Ricepaper/MAC Bamboo Eye Shadows (inner and outer lid).  Take a flat brush and pat a mixture of this color just to the inside and outside of the lid, keep the center open for the next color. Blend the color with the pink that you previously blended in the crease.

-MAC Crystal Avalanche Eye Shadow with MAC Silver Dusk Iridescent Powder  (center of lid and lower eye)  By placing a lighter color in the center of the lid will make your eyes pop!  Also smudge this color on the bottom lash line to open up the eyes.

-Don't forget your lashes, any style would work well.  If you like you can also add a little bit of the shimmer powder in the inside corner of your eye like what I did for the picture.
