products to create this fall inspired smokey eye. Here are the products that I used to create this look.

For the eyes the  Shadows  are Smoke (lid) Smokey (inside the crease), Chocolate (above crease) all from the

.  This palette is wonderful! You can really create a variety of looks from natural to super glam.  Another thing I like about this palette is the matte shades, super pigmented! Make sure you use a really good base for Smoke to adhere to.  Even using a gel eyeliner, or cream black shadow will really help.  Liquid Liner in Noir.  Brows are from  Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel Espresso and Brow Genius Kit in Brunette.

I wanted to show you the Pixie Lashes from House of Lashes up close.  These are my favorite to wear for a dramatic look as the lashes really compliment the darkness of the colors.  Length and fullness you have it all in 1 package.

Tutorial/MOTD: Black & Gold

Lately, I have been a lot of requests for black and gold eye shadow looks.  With all the Holiday parties coming this weekend along with New Years right around the corner I thought it would be the right time to make a tutorial.

[side note]

I am so into making YouTube tutorials now because of my new video camera and set up with my new lighting.  My goal is to make 1 video a week including reviews and how to segments.  My new Panasonic Lumix camera has been a great addition to my JVC video cam.  When I love something I want to keep playing with it hopefully it doesn't get old. lol

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

NYX White Eye Shadow Primer

MAC Eye Shadows - Ricepaper, Soft Brown, Espresso and Carbon

L'Oreal Infalliable 24hour Eye Shadow - Gold Imperial

Faux Lashes Alexia www.fauxlash.com

Sonia Kasuk Pointed Eye Liner Brush

Revlon Photoready BB Cream Medium (will do a review)

Benefit High Beam Highlighter (will do a review)

Smashbox Gingersnap Blush Rush

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder (will do a review)

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Trollop/Ophelia

Some tips for this look:

-Try not to blend the black into the gold this will turn the black green.

-If you do not have the colors that I used then use colors that are similar but with a MATTE finish.  If you use something with shimmer or frost it will be too much and you won't get the definition.

-Remember to get the Scotch Tape tacky (first run it on the back of your hand) before you apply it to your eye area.  If you don't do this before, when you take it off it will be painful.  I've done this and it's not a good thing!

-Have a clean extra blending brush handy to use to blend the darker shades so the colors don't look muddy.

I'm already thinking of my next video! If you guys have any requests please let me know ;)

MOTD: Smashbox Dark Room Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio

Last year Smashbox launched their new eye shadow trios called Photo Op.  These eye shadows are a new formula with new colors added and some favorites from their past trio eye shadows.  In the beginning there were 11 trio shades to select from now there are 16 with 4 from the original collection. The colors range from neutral nude, soft subtle colors to the favorite celebrity inspired smokey eye.

I love how each pot has 3 coordinated shades that all work together, no more guessing work!  You get a highlighter, crease and base/lid shade all in one compact.  The colors also work great on their own and you can pair them with existing colors that you already have in your makeup collection. The shadows go on velvety smooth and the pigment is very strong.  To make the shadows last longer I would suggest using an eye shadow primer of your choice.

For this MOTD I used Dark Room  - Opal (opalescent pale pink), Granite (shimmery silver grey), Blackout (matte jet black).  The swatches on the top row are with a primer (Smashbox Photo Finish Eye Primer).  I even tried rubbing the shadows with the primer and they did not move! This is a great collection of shadows for a classic smokey eye and the colors are so versatile that they will work with any skin tone.

Products used:

Smashbox Dark Room

Opal - Highlight and Lid Color (for the lid use wet)

Granite - Crease (use a fluffy blending brush and really buff this color all over the crease and little bit above.  Blend in a circular motion back and forth.

Blackout - Detailed crease (this is best applied with a detailer definer brush or a slanted eye liner brush does the trick also.  Really emphasize this area by "carving" out the crease, do not blend.

Lip: Smashbox Pixel Lip Enhancing Lip Gloss.  This is one of my favorite nude lip glosses.

I will be doing more looks with the Smashbox Photo Op Trios, since I have the whole palette that I received for Christmas.  The Photo Op Mega Palette is exclusive to QVC and it contains 16 of the trios plus 2 limited edition 4 eye shadow palette,  cream eye liners, blushes/highlighters and lip glosses.  Your whole complete set, you really don't need anything else.  You can still find it at QVC. I am so behind in my blogging, there's so much I want to share with all of you! Hopefully I can get in the routine to post every day!!! :)

MOTD: Hunger Games

The hottest new movie out right now is Hunger Games and I haven't even seen it. I was intrigued by the trailer I saw during a commercial break from one of my television shows and also this inspirational set from Polyvore. I can't wait to see the movie to actually see what the dress looked like.

My Inspiration for the look

Start with your highlight and work down is the easiest way to achieve all the different colors to blend into each other.  You can't tell in the picture but I do have the yellow color wrapped around from the inner corner of my eye to just above my natural crease.  I would recommend layering the orange/red color until you get the desired effect that you are trying to achieve.  A bullet tipped brush such as the MAC 219 works best to get more defined saturated color  and to have that winged look.  I have no specific names of the colors as these are no name brand eye shadows but as long as you stick to colors that are similar you will be set to go.  The lashes are from the Japanese Dollar Store I always mention, Daiso.  These type of lashes really gave a nice overall finish to the eyes.

I'm thinking of creating a series of makeup looks from Hunger Games... we will see where this takes me :)
