MOTD: Colorful look for summer

motdpinkpurplecolor

Quick MOTD post for you today using L.A. Girl Cosmetics. I am head over heals with the Gel Glide Eyeliner Pencils.  They are soft, creamy, come in a variety of colours but most importantly stays on once set (give it about 15 seconds). I am serious, this liner does not move!  I even used makeup remover to remove the Royal Blue color and it was still on until I washed my face.  If you are looking for an eyeliner that will stay in the water line and will not budge this is for you.  I've tried so many eyeliners but I really have to say this eyeliner is the best! Did I mention the eyeliner is only $5?!?! YAHOOOOO now you can collect all the colors. =)  You can thank me later. P.S. I will have swatches of the liners that I have so you can start your shopping.

Back to the look..

  • Shadows: MAC Swish (lid), Quarry (overall crease), Shadowy Lady (outside corner), Blanc Type (highlight), White Frost (inner tear duct for highlight).  To create the sharp clean edge use masking tape before eye shadow application.
  • Brow: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Ebony
  • Liner: L.A.Girl Gel Glide Eyeliner Very Black (top) and Royal Blue (bottom)
  • Lashes: Elegant Lashes Mystic

Filofax: Week 26 Pages Hello Summer

filofax_wk27_planningpages

Hello and welcome SUMMER! This is my theme for this week's Filofax planning pages.  It's so playfun, and bright to get me in the mood for the new season.  So far Seattle weather isn't so bad - a few rain showers but nothing too extreme.

PRODUCTS USED FOR THIS LAYOUT:

  • Studio L2E Plan It and List It Stamps
  • Washi Tape from all over the place
  • Me and My Big Ideas Free Summer Printable Journal Cards - I found this on Pinterest and new they were going to be perfect for this week's layout.  I used the cards for inspiration for the overall theme of the layout.

  • 3x4 journal card protector hole punched to fit the Filofax and added a strip of washi tape for personality. I was asked why I do this, well I like to reuse the journal cards to make as cards.

Next week is July 4th, keep an eye for something patriotic and festive!

MOTD Wedding Makeup Soft Smokey Eye

motdsoftsmokeyeye

This was look was inspired by one of my upcoming brides.  I love the shimmer but yet soft smokey look that brings definition to the eyes for a bride. I always think of bridal makeup as the more glamorous you - pretty, romantic and still you.  This is what I love to do - working with the bride to make her feel beautiful and most importantly enjoy her special day.  Last year I was a bride and it was just a magical time to finally be the bride and not the makeup artist (but I did do my own makeup, more about that later).

Here's the list of products to achieve this look (please leave a comment below if you would like to see  a tutorial on this).

EYES:

  • L.A. Girl PRO Eye Shadow Primer in Nude
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Foxy (highlight), Bootycall (lid), Tease (crease and blended up), Pistol (outer half of lid) and YDK mixed with Blackout (outer corner to create smokey)
  • Colourpop Super Shock Shadow I (Heart) This to create more shimmery to the lid and inner corner
  • Get Lucky Super Shock Shadow smudged on the bottom inner half of the eye
  • L.A. Girl Gel Glide Eye Liner Pencil Very Black **OMG best eyeliner EVER! This liner does not smudge seriously, waterproof and budgeproof.  Will do some swatches next week.
  • Elegant Lashes #138

  • Foundation:@Bellettostudio airbrush F6Yellow Dune

Wedding: T&C Engagment Pictures - Picking A Theme

I always get asked about our engagement pictures and how I chose the theme and style for them. To tell you the truth, it kinda just came to US.  Cody hates taking pictures so I really had to make this comfortable for him and in his comfort zone or who knows how our pictures would have turned out. I always tell brides-to-be to pick a theme, or even a location and base your style around that.  This really helped me stay focus and not have my ideas wonder off whenever I found something on Pinterst. You will tell from our two different sets of pictures how the theme is very similar but still different in it's own unique way.

The first set was taken by our wedding photographers Jade and Kaitlin Ehlers at our condo in Downtown Seattle.  We were trying to go for the J.Crew, Hamptons (but with a Seattle) vibe. I love Cody's  jacket we focused our outfit and theme for this shoot around it. We used these pictures for our Save The Dates (click here to view how they turned out, I have to say I am so proud of these!)

Now you can tell the second set was completely different from the first but still has the J.Crew/ Hamptons vibe with a vintage twist. I focused the wedding on a vintage theme (will post pictures of all the details very soon). My navy dress was purchased on Modcloth.com and the vintage truck and suitcase were bought at an antique store in Downtown Tacoma. These pictures were taken by Paul Maranan of  P&M Productions at Discovery Park in Seattle. I actually met Jade and Kaitlin through Paul because they were their photographers for their wedding. So funny how things work out! Paul captured the vibe that I wanted perfectly!

I will be focusing some Friday posts on more personal things such as the wedding (since I didn't even blog about it when it was happening) and other things.  Did you have a theme for your engagement pics?

Filofax: Week 25 Pages Polkadot

filofax_wk25

I am loving this week's Filofax planning page layout (Kate Spade inspired), maybe because I had so many new things to design the 2 page spread! This layout is very different from the layout that I used last week and I am thinking this is the one to stick keep.  I've seen this type of layout used by a few Filofaxers so I decided to make my own through Microsoft Publisher. Super easy! Lots of space to stamp, add post-its, little notes, color, etc.

PRODUCTS USED FOR THIS LAYOUT:

  • Studio L2E Plan It and List It Stamps
  • Kate Spade Paperclips
  • Polka-dot washi tape from Michaels
  • Clear TODAY divider from Heidi Swapp  (this was part of a pack, they are a little short, but too cute not to use).
  • Journal Cards - I made these myself with quotes I found on Pinterest
  • 3x4 journal card protector hole punched to fit the Filofax and added a strip of washi tape for personality.

I hope you are enjoying my creativity posts! Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss out!
